30th Anniversary: Nitmiluk Handback

A day of celebration marks the anniversary of the official hand back of Nitmiluk to Jawoyn people and recognition of their traditional connection to the land, and the beginning of a successful partnership with the Northern Territory Government.
NEWS FLASH: Following official celebrations and music at Nitmiluk National Park, a FREE CONCERT will be held at the Lindsay Street complex in Katherine from 7pm.
SPECIAL PERFORMANCES: YIRRMAL + MUSIC + DANCERS
New generation artist Yirrmal Marika hails from Yirrkala in north east Arnhem Land. Inspired by his grandfather and the former lead singer of Yothu Yindi, Dr Yunupingu, he fuses traditional and contemporary arrangements with class and passion. Yirrmal is an inspiring songwriter and guitarist with a beautiful voice, singing songs about his homeland and culture with feeling and depth beyond his years.
MASTER OF CEREMONY: DAN BOURCHIER
Dan Bourchier, a multi-award-winning journalist with the ABC, hosts the daily breakfast radio program on ABC Radio Canberra and anchors ABC Canberra’s 7pm news. He has reported across the country and around the world for more than 15 years. Dan’s a local boy from Tennant Creek, who was raised in the outback and instilled with a sense of community service from a very early age. Dan is driven by giving voice to the voiceless, holding to account those in positions of power, and telling really great stories.
